What is Paint Protection Film or PPF??

TPU paint protection film, also known as PPF or thermoplastic paint protection film, is a type of protective coating applied to the painted surface of vehicles such as cars, motorcycles, yachts, and aircraft.

This type of film is made of thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU), an extremely durable and flexible material. TPU PPF film ranges in thickness from 50 microns for the thinnest versions to 200 microns or more for the thickest. It is applied directly over the vehicle's paint, forming a second protective skin.

The main function of this film is to protect the vehicle's original paint from potential damage caused by impacts from small stones, gravel, sand, minor abrasions, and even some chemicals. Because it is tough and elastic, TPU film absorbs impact and prevents the paint finish from scratching, chipping, or peeling. This helps keep the vehicle looking newer for longer.

Installing PPF film requires meticulous and careful work by a specialized technician. The surface must be perfectly clean, and the applicator uses a soap solution and a squeegee to eliminate bubbles and adhere the film evenly to the vehicle's contours. This process can take several hours or days, depending on the area covered.

One of the main advantages of TPU film over other coatings such as waxes or paints is that it provides permanent protection, while traditional coatings require periodic reapplication. Furthermore, its installation does not affect the gloss, color, or finish of the paint. It simply provides almost invisible protection.

Currently, this TPU PPF film is the most comprehensive paint protection system for paint finishes. It has high impact resistance, between 1800-2100 psi, which is higher than many plastics and paints. Its thickness also absorbs impacts to protect the paint layer. Furthermore, its softness prevents the friction effect that airborne particles can cause.

Although PPF TPU film is tough and flexible, it's not indefinite, so the replaceable front panel pieces are manufactured to allow for replacement over time when damaged by extreme use. With proper care, PPF film can last more than 10 years, maintaining a flawless paint finish.

So in short, this thermoplastic polyurethane paint protection film is an ideal investment for protecting the expensive paintwork of a high-end vehicle. It can be applied to the entire body or just to vulnerable areas such as headlights, panels, corners, hoods, etc. It is 100% transparent, preserving the paint's shine and resisting weather, abrasion, minor impacts, and even some chemicals.
